"I respond to landscape as a metaphor for emotions and experiences. Being alone in nature helps me to listen to my intuition and to have the patience necessary to really see. I seek to integrate the memories, sounds and feelings of being in the landscape into the making of the print, to integrate the process with form and content.  It is a way for me to relive an experience and to share it with others.

The sources of my prints are from many places; underground springs in the Mojave which nourish tiny desert plants and break to the surface in startling colors amid the bleak landscape of alkali flats and tortured metamorphic rocks; a river walk in Michigan where I go to find healing while dealing with illness, the end of a trail in the Colorado mountains that opens up into a pond reflecting the colors of a sunrise through yellow aspens like gold leaf applied to a Chinese screen and a waterfall in Zion National Park where one can be cooled by the spray while looking through misty water droplets to the landscape beyond.

To me, these images become rich in meaning as they suggest resilience, renewal, beauty and new life in a time of constant change."
