“The mountains and the marshes are where I draw my energy. I get in touch with the sense of place and the effect of light on color and shape. I am interested in communicating a perceived spirit of nature, one which transcends the obvious, a reconciliation between an expression of the ideal and a depiction of the real.” — Coralie Tweed

CORALIE TWEED Biography

Coralie Tweed finds her inspiration in nature. Her paintings capture the light and shadow of ever-changing atmospheric conditions. Creating a kind of visual poetry, mountain ranges, low country marshes, forests, and streams come alive in Tweed’s pastel and gouache paintings.

She received her BA and MFA degrees from East Tennessee State University. She spent a year studying painting at the Sorbonne and the atelier Le Grande Chaumiere in Paris.
