Vivid color and texture capture fragments of nature’s power in the rich abstract paintings of Andrew Moore. Reducing details down to basic forms, he communicates the spirit of a landscape while creating a visual meditation. In his multi-layered paintings, Moore mixes pigments with a variety of mediums, 30 to 40 layers of paint are applied, repeatedly sanded and rebuilt.
Moore studied at the University of Tennessee. His work has been exhibited in the Carroll Reese Museum (TN) and is in the collections of the Opryland Hotel (TN), First Tennessee Bank and Raven Records International (Australia).
Andrew currently works from his studio in Tennessee.
“I would like to have a sense of time, history and civilization present in the surface and additionally filtered through dense repainting and erasure.”
