Biography:

White received her BFA degree from East Carolina University (NC) and her MA and MFA degrees from the University of Iowa. She currently teaches workshops at Asheville BookWooks (NC), is an adjunct professor of papermaking and book arts at Warren Wilson College (NC) and is co-founder/co-director of Ladies of Letterpress.

Her work has been displayed at numerous venues including Asheville BookWorks (NC), Cabarrus Arts Council (NC), University of North Florida Gallery of Art and the University of Memphis Art Museum (TN). White’s art is part of the permanent collections of Lafayette College (PA), The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (IL), Stanford University (CA), The Art Mill Museum (Hungary), University of California (Los Angeles and Santa Barbara), University of Iowa, University of Wisconsin and Yale University. Jessica currently works from her studio in Western North Carolina.

Statement:

“I studied iron casting as an undergrad and during the same time learned to repair books while working a student job at the university library. I like to draw and trace to work out ideas for new prints, and sometimes the prints inspire new drawings. Mostly, I work in ink and watercolors.”
