MICAH SHERRILL •   HENDERSONVILLE, NC

Artist Micah Sherrill’s iconographic, illustrative portraits blend detailed painting with sculptural textures. He has his own recipe of techniques and color palette and is constantly experimenting with a variety of materials.

"I describe my predominately figurative paintings as 'iconic surrealism'. The negative spaces of each painting explore my belief that if it is worth looking at then it is worth touching. To always include tactile elements, I employ a wide variety of materials in addition to acrylic paint. I like to have color tension that visually describes a particular feeling – one synonymous with how I feel about the subject.” — Micah Sherrill

Sherrill studied fine art at Brenau University (GA) and Salem College (NC). His work has been exhibited extensively throughout the Eastern United States including the Fuller Craft Museum (MA).
