"Color is the most important component of my work. To begin a painting I create a simple grid in which to lay arrangements of individual color. A complex tapestry of scrapes and marks create a rich quality to the work reminiscent of a weathered historic wall. I create situations of spontaneous mark making, free of planning or arrangement, similar to how the world around us creates wear on objects we encounter everyday. Imagery is conjured by constant fiddling in sketchbooks, a practice which has always gone hand in hand with painting." - Aaron Tucker
